Set Tooltip depending on ComboBox

Set Tooltip depending on ComboBox

With these it helps Change the binding to SelectedItem.Content instead of SelectedItem.
The elements in the combobox arent plain String "Items". They are of the type ComboBoxItem
code :
        <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ElementName=LandComboBox, Path=SelectedItem.Content}" Value="Test 1.2.">
          <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="Hello 1.2." />
        </DataTrigger>
        <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ElementName=LandComboBox, Path=SelectedItem.Content}" Value="Test 55">
          <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="Hello 55" />
        </DataTrigger>

Does that help How do I change the options for a combo box depending on the selected item of a different combo box? , Here is a simple example to get you started:
code :
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.util.*;
import javax.swing.*;

public class ComboBoxTwo extends JPanel implements ActionListener
{
    private JComboBox<String> mainComboBox;
    private JComboBox<String> subComboBox;
    private Hashtable<String, String[]> subItems = new Hashtable<String, String[]>();

    public ComboBoxTwo()
    {
        String[] items = { "Select Item", "Color", "Shape", "Fruit" };
        mainComboBox = new JComboBox<String>( items );
        mainComboBox.addActionListener( this );

        // prevent action events from being fired when the up/down arrow keys are used
        mainComboBox.putClientProperty("JComboBox.isTableCellEditor", Boolean.TRUE);
        add( mainComboBox );

        // Create sub combo box with multiple models

        subComboBox = new JComboBox<String>();
        subComboBox.setPrototypeDisplayValue("XXXXXXXXXX"); // JDK1.4
        add( subComboBox );

        String[] subItems1 = { "Select Color", "Red", "Blue", "Green" };
        subItems.put(items[1], subItems1);

        String[] subItems2 = { "Select Shape", "Circle", "Square", "Triangle" };
        subItems.put(items[2], subItems2);

        String[] subItems3 = { "Select Fruit", "Apple", "Orange", "Banana" };
        subItems.put(items[3], subItems3);
    }

    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
    {
        String item = (String)mainComboBox.getSelectedItem();
        Object o = subItems.get( item );

        if (o == null)
        {
            subComboBox.setModel( new DefaultComboBoxModel() );
        }
        else
        {
            subComboBox.setModel( new DefaultComboBoxModel( (String[])o ) );
        }
    }

    private static void createAndShowUI()
    {
        JFrame frame = new JFrame("SSCCE");
        frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        frame.add( new ComboBoxTwo() );
        frame.setLocationByPlatform( true );
        frame.pack();
        frame.setVisible( true );
    }

    public static void main(String[] args)
    {
        EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable()
        {
            public void run()
            {
                createAndShowUI();
            }
        });
    }
}
Why is my ComboBox ToolTip not in synch with the ComboBoxItem ToolTip all the time?

seems to work fine I am trying to update the Combo ToolTip at the same time as the ComboItems. , OK, I found the solution. I had to do it like this:
code :
<ComboBox x:Name="comboMeetingWeek" ItemsSource="{Binding Meetings}"
          SelectedItem="{Binding Meeting, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"
          ToolTip="{Binding Meeting.ToolTipForSpecialEvent}">
    <ComboBox.ItemTemplate>
        <DataTemplate>
            <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" ToolTip="{Binding ToolTipForSpecialEvent}">
                <Image Source="Images/Bell.png" Margin="0,0,5,0"
                       Visibility="{Binding DisplayBellImage, Converter={StaticResource BoolToHiddenConverter}}" Stretch="None"/>
                <TextBlock Text="{Binding DateMeetingAsText}" />
            </StackPanel>
        </DataTemplate>
    </ComboBox.ItemTemplate>
</ComboBox>

this will help I wouldn't use enums at all, since this doesn't allow for data manipulation without recompiling. If you insist on using enums though, you need to use Object or a interface implemented with both subcategory enum types as parameter type for comboBoxSubCategory:
code :
comboBoxMainCategory.valueProperty().addListener((obs, oldValue, newValue) -> {
        if (newValue == null) { // newValue: Europe || USA
            comboBoxSubCategory.getItems().clear();
            comboBoxSubCategory.setDisable(true);
        } else {
            comboBoxSubCategory.setDisable(false);
            List<? extends Object> list;
            switch (newValue) {
                case EUROPE:
                    list = Arrays.asList(SubCategoryEurope.values());
                    break;
                default:
                    list = Arrays.asList(SubCategoryUSA.values());
                    break;
            }
            comboBoxSubCategory.getItems().setAll(list);
        }
    });
Map<String, List<String>> data = new HashMap<>();
data.put("EUROPE", Arrays.asList("GERMANY", "FRANCE"));
data.put("USA", Arrays.asList("COLORADO", "CALIFORNIA"));

comboBoxMainCategory.valueProperty().addListener((obs, oldValue, newValue) -> {
        List<String> list = data.get(newValue);
        if (list != null) {
            comboBoxSubCategory.setDisable(false);
            comboBoxSubCategory.getItems().setAll(list);
        } else {
            comboBoxSubCategory.getItems().clear();
            comboBoxSubCategory.setDisable(true);
        }
    });

will help you I will use jQuery as an example, it's just easier to throw together than vanilla JavaScript, so you would need the jQuery library in your header (or at the bottom of your page):
code :
<section class="container">
    <div class="row" >
      <div class="input-field col s12" >
        <select id="slct1" name="slct1">
          <!-- You can keep this as is -->
          <?php require('php/cb_categoria_update.php');  ?>
        </select>
        <label>Categoría</label>
      </div>
      <div class="input-field col s12" method="GET">
        <!-- Use a jQuery event listener instead of the inline onchange -->
        <select id="slct2" name="slct2">
         </select>
        <label>Insumo</label>
      </div>
    </div>
</section>

<script>
// Document ready
$(function(){
    // Listen for change on first drop down
    $('#slct1').on('change', function(){
        // Run ajax
        $.ajax({
            // Set the url for the file you want to load into current page
            'url': 'cb_insumo_update.php',
            // You could use GET here, I just use post
            'type': 'post',
            // Fetch the value of the current selected option
            'data': $(this).val(),
            // Take the html result from the php page
            'success': function(response) {
                // Place it into this page
                $('#slct2').html(response);
            }
        });
    });
});
</script>
$spinsumo="call SP_INSUMOS_BY_CAT('".$_POST['cbidcategoria']."')";

this one helps. tl;dr use combograde.SelectedItem instead of combograde.SelectedValue
I did a little digging around in VS and on MDSN. From the looks of it SelectedValue is only useful when using data binding. It displays the value of the field denoted by ValueMember which selects the value to be displayed by complex data.
code :
combo_grade.Items.Add("If this shows it works");
combo_sub.Items.Add("If this shows it works");
