To fix the issue you can do %d is to display integers. If you want to display String as your bg.toString() you must use %s and format it properly.
See http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/util/Formatter.html for all formatter options.

hop of those help? r is an int, so r*2 is also an int, meaning that in your second print statement %f cannot be used. Try %d there instead.
Recall that %f is for floating point numbers while %d is for integers. This is outlined in the documentation of Formatter (see Format String Syntax).

it helps some times In printf, d is for integral types only, i.e. byte, short, int and long, not double.
Since categoryAvg and pressureAvg are double's, use f for them instead.
code :
System.out.printf("%s%20f%10f%10.1f", "Average", categoryAvg, pressureAvg, speedMPHAvg);
System.out.printf("%s%20d%10d%10d", "Maximum", categoryMax, pressureMax, speedMax);
System.out.printf("%s%20d%10d%10d", "Minimum", categoryMin, pressureMin, speedMin);

help you fix your problem If you want percent signs in your format string, you need to escape them:
code :
System.out.printf("1.3%% of 950 is %1.2f", x);

I wish did fix the issue. I'm doing an exercise about output formatting on Eclipse and an exception was thrown. I don' know how to fix it. I need to print out the 20 numbers from 50 to 1000, step 50, and their square roots. The integers need 4 digits max, and the float numbers need 3 digits before and after the decimal point. , In this line
code :
System.out.printf("START%4dEND", "START%4.3fEND %n", j, sqrt);
System.out.printf("START%4dEND START%4.3fEND %n", j, sqrt);

With these it helps %d goes with integer in Java. Use %f instead in your printf()
Another useful info. If you use %.02f then it will print only two decimal point value after the dot .
