Regex pattern to start with first digit and end at last hyphen (if it exists)

Regex pattern to start with first digit and end at last hyphen (if it exists)

will be helpful for those in need I have a regex pattern that almost works, but I can't quite get it totally correct. My goal is that if a string starts with letters, to ignore them up to the first digit. The second part of the pattern needs to make the match stop at the last hyphen in the string, if one exists. Here are some examples of strings that I would be working on: , Use this:
code :
\d(?:\S*(?=-)|\S*)

code :
"^[A-Za-z_-][A-Za-z0-9_-]*$"
"^[A-Za-z_ |-][A-Za-z0-9_ |-]*$"

fixed the issue. Will look into that further Ctrl+H Find what: \G.*?(?Explanation:
code :
\G # restart from last match position
.*? # 0 or more any character
(?<!\d) # negative lookbehind, make sure we haven't digit before
( # start group 1
  \d{3}-\d{3}-\d{4} # the string you're searching for
(?!\d) # negative lookahead, make sure we haven't digit after
 | # OR
  \z # end of file
) # end of group
