may help you . Here is a function to check permissions of a directory for another user:
code :
using System.IO;
using System.Security.AccessControl;
public static FileSystemRights GetDirectoryPermissions(string user, string domainName, string folderPath)
{
    if (!Directory.Exists(folderPath))
    {
        return (0);
    }

    string identityReference = ((domainName + @"\" + user) as string).ToLower();
    DirectorySecurity dirSecurity = Directory.GetAccessControl(folderPath, AccessControlSections.Access);
    foreach (FileSystemAccessRule fsRule in dirSecurity.GetAccessRules(true, true, typeof(System.Security.Principal.NTAccount)))
    {
        if (fsRule.IdentityReference.Value.ToLower() == identityReference)
        {
            return (fsRule.FileSystemRights);
        }
    }
    return (0);
}

How do I read/write files to an unknown user directory?

this one helps. I'm attempting to read and write files from a User Directory, (C:\Users\USERNAME\Test Source) But I've been unsuccessful in finding any resources on how I can auto detect the name of the user, USERNAME in the above example, or anyway that I can have it read and write to the directory without knowledge off what a users name is. Could anyone point me towards the right direction or methods for this, if it's even a logical request? I'm not sure how much difference, if any, it makes but this program is being written in Python 2.7. , You can use in windows command line
code :
 echo %username%
  whoami
‘C:\users\%username%\file‘
l=`whoami`
echo $l

hope this fix your issue I need to test in a bash script if a given user can read a given directory with all files and sub-directories inside. The script runs as root. , You could simply say:
code :
su -m $user -c "find $dir >/dev/null 2>&1 || echo $dir is not readable or executable"
find . \( -type d -perm /u+r -o -type d -perm /u+x -o -type f -perm /u+r \)

seems to work fine Try using list.files. If the working directory is the root of the directory you have shown, then something link this will work:
code :
my.files <-
  list.files(path = "./", pattern = "result_file",
             full.names = TRUE, recursive = TRUE)
ans <- lapply(my.files, read.table)

it helps some times The Apache Hadoop HDFS Permissions Guide includes a section on Permission Checks, which lists various file system operations and the exact permissions required on the paths. The relevant operation in this case is getListing. For the final component of the path, this operation requires both read and execute access. For a user with only read access, it's insufficient, so access is denied.
I expect if you add execute access for the group on /data/staged/advance/adobe/mail_segments/input_files, then it will work the way you want.
