seems to work fine The problem was with git add.I had forgotten to add the node_modules files.I closed the terminal and ran the set of commands given in the Getting started with Heroku and NodeJs[1] again.The application was successfully pushed onto the stack.

Does that help The easiest way to make this work is to add node_modules to your .gitignore. Lots more info here: Fail to deploy node.js application to heroku

Hope this helps You're not telling Heroku which versions of Node.js and NPM to use, so it's defaulting to the newest available:
code :
remote: -----> Installing binaries
remote:        engines.node (package.json):  unspecified
remote: engines.npm (package.json): unspecified (use default)
remote:
remote: Resolving node version (latest stable) via semver.io...
remote: Downloading and installing node 12.4.0...
remote: Using default npm version: 6.9.0
"engines": {
  "node": "10.x"
}

I wish did fix the issue. I've written an Angular-app, that I wish to deploy to Heroku, but I keep getting errors... , I believe that you miss spelling the app name
"Push rejected, failed to compile Multipack app" when deploying heroku-buildpack-nodejs and heroku-buildpack-r

will help you I'm using heroku-buildpack-multi: , You need a package.json for the node buildpack. So, something like:
