should help you out We figured out what was happening. We ended up using the ng-forms directive and creating two different named forms, a primary and a secondary form. After this, the secondary form allowed us to do client side form input errors.

around this issue For one thing, never use jQuery with Angular. When you understand Angular enough to be able to challenge the "never" part of my assertion, then it's OK to look into how jQuery plays with Angular.
jQuery, or any kind of attempt to get/set DOM elements from the controller will get you in deep waters. This SO answer is a good place to start.
code :
$modalInstance.close({txt1: "value from txt1", txt2: "something else"});
var modalInstance = $modal.open(...);
modalInstance.result.then(function(result){
  $scope.txt1 = result.txt1;
  $scope.txt2 = result.txt2;
});

will be helpful for those in need If the model was added to model attribute via addAttribute("owner", owner), @SessionAttribute("owner") annotation over the @Controller-marked class together with using @ModelAttribute("owner") ownet in the controller method parameter is the decision that helps. With @SessionAttribute the data is not cleared by the form with all fields put to null values.
Explicit naming of @ModelAttribute("named_via_here") being the same as @SessionAttribute("named_via_here") is required (it may work without it, but not guaranteed)

wish helps you A few things:
You don't need to define new variables based on form scoped variables, just reference the form scoped variables. Verify that form.type_query exists as Alex suggests. (Did you have a form field named type_query?) Throw an error if it doesn't. Make sure that you contextually encode user input to protect against Cross-Site Scripting attacks (encodeForURL() in this case.) You can only call one cflocation at a time, you'll never redirect to report_test.cfm. If type_query matches neither "query1" or "query2", throw an error or redirect to another page. Optional: Set a default value for type_query.
